Sumario:	Kuwait's expat population totalled 3.35 million at the start of June 2020, with citizens making up 1.45 million of the total 4.8 million. Kuwait Airways said in May that it would cut about 1,500 expat jobs, making up 25 per cent of its total workforce. Earlier that month, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Waleed al-Jassem, confirmed that Kuwait Municipality would freeze employment applications from expats, cancel appointments under process and not renew the contracts of existing expat employees.
