        Alirio Palacios was an important Venezuelan printmaker who lived in China during the 60s and received a notorious influence of the traditional culture of that country on his plastic work since that moment. This article approaches how was the meeting of Palacios with china's culture, his formal studies about millenary painting and calligraphy, as well as his development with woodcut technique, which is a process of traditional printmaking originally from China. Finally, it reflects on how the influences he got from his stay on the Asian country left marks over his subsequent artistic production.
        Alirio Palacios fue un importante grabador venezolano que vivió en China durante la década de los sesenta y recibió una notoria influencia de la cultura tradicional de ese país sobre su obra plástica a partir de ese momento. Este artículo aborda cómo fue el encuentro de Palacios con la cultura china, sus estudios formales de la pintura y la caligrafía milenarias, así como su desarrollo con la técnica de la xilografía, procedimiento de grabado tradicional originario de China. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre cómo las influencias recibidas de su estancia en el país asiático marcaron su producción artística posterior.
