The goal of this paper is to introduce an image processing method that could be integrated with GPS data to automatically control the road safety standards for speed limit signs before horizontal curves and identify the problems. The proposed method introduced a new trend in the area of image processing and pattern recognition. The results substantiated a high percentage of success in identification and accuracy in sign distinction. Application of support vector machine led to 92% accuracy in the identification of the signs and 97% accuracy in speed limit distinction. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: Y custom: Copyright of Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities is the property of Universiti Putra Malaysia and its content may not be copied or emailed to multiple sites without the copyright holder's express written permission.
