ab: The article highlights the initial difficulty in getting a book published. It discusses how the barriers in getting a book published will be overcome. It suggests that the would-be author should observe certain courtesies. One is to make an appointment if it is to be a personal call. Another, if all is to be done by mail, is to refrain from sending five-pound manuscripts or even a few sample chapters until the alleged expert-consultant agrees to read it or them. Still another courtesy is to send clean copy. To be more cheerful about it: publishing of books in the journalism field is less of a jungle for the new author than many other fields, for it is smaller, there are fewer publishers to approach, and the job is more manageable.
