Sumario:The article discusses the development of smart and environmentally sustainable cities in Latin America, focusing particularly on the InterSCity project in which a group of eleven universities and startups in Brazil use computer scientist in addition to architects, urban planners, transportation engineers, economists, and health professionals to design for underprivileged neighborhood development. It makes use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, high-performance computing, big data analytics, and visualization.
