Authors discuss the theoretical and methodical basis of historical GIS system function and present the example of executed implementation – the interactive map of the non-existent Jewish district 'Podzamcze' in Lublin (www.teatrnn.pl/miejsca/mapa/lublin-podzamcze-czwartek). The application gives access to archival collection of documents as well as to the catalogue of events, places and people connected with the former Jewish district.
