This article examines methodological aspects as well as advantages and disadvantages of two alternative forms of conducting interviews: the digital video interview and the qualitative telephone interview. Both options can be used for qualitative interview research, if technical and ethical aspects and regulations of data protection are sufficiently considered. The opportunities regarding feasibility, practicability, applicability, participant recruitment and involvement can be considered as high. Die COVID-19-Pandemie stellt qualitativ Forschende in Pflege- und Gesundheitswissenschaft vor besondere Herausforderungen: Persönliche Interviews von Angesicht zu Angesicht sind ethisch nur schwer zu rechtfertigen. Dieser Artikel beleuchtet methodische Aspekte sowie Vor- und Nachteile zweier alternativer Formen der Interviewdurchführung: des digitalen Videointerviews und des qualitativen Telefoninterviews. Beide Varianten können für die qualitative Interviewforschung eingesetzt werden, sofern technische und ethische Aspekte sowie Vorschriften des Datenschutzes ausreichend beachtet werden.
