| Sumario: | The development of a modern university library is characterized by an accelerating change in the information space, the education system and scientific communication. New information technologies, which overshadow traditional forms of education, intensify competition in the market of educational services, the globalization of science and education, the emergence of “mega science” or “international education” projects are just some of the serious challenges facing modern universities. The global transformation of the educational environment, on the one hand, poses serious challenges for university libraries, on the other hand, opens up new development prospects. The requirements of distance education (distance education) are faced with the development of information and communication technologies on the one hand, and the demands of the globalizing world on the other.
