Vocational guidance ab: The article reports that in the late summer or fall of 1968, a revised version of the "Men's Form of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank," (SVIB) will be published by Stanford University Press under the authorship of E. K. Strong, Ralph F. Berdie and Kenneth E. Clark. This is a report of how that revision came to be, what changes were necessary and what it means for the practitioner who is concerned about the measurement of interests. When Strong, the author of the original inventory, retired from Stanford University in 1949, he began thinking about revising the SVIB to eliminate some of the dated questions and to incorporate some psychometric improvements. In 1959, all of Strong's original criterion data, consisting of about 40,000 completed inventories, were transferred to Minnesota and prepared for computer input and analysis. For unrelated reports that are unimportant here, the publication of this revision was delayed for seven months. In this interim period, arrangements were made by the center and by several other places to administer the revised SVIB to various groups. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: Y dt: @attributes: year: 1966 holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
