Sumario:The article analyzes the eminence of Kamau Brathwaite as a poet of postcolonialism and his achievements in the oral and written poetry. It is noted that Brathwaite brilliantly coined the term "Nation language" as substitute for "dialect." He also discusses four essential characteristics including plurality of the national language, submergence of the dominating imperialist culture and his minor influence and poetic strategy.
