| Summary: | When the concept of life care planning was introduced in the 1980s, only certain technology-based tools were available to the general public and life care planning practitioners. During the last 30 years as life care planning evolved, so too did the role of technology-based products. During this time, workplaces adopted the personal computer, as well as internet, email, and cellular telephones. This adoption of advanced technology improved the life care planner's efficiency and delivery of services in a competent and ethical manner. During the COVID-19 pandemic, enhanced technology including the use of video conferencing, has assisted with the restrictions of social distancing and the safety of evaluees. This article reports findings from a 2020 survey of 100 life care planners who responded to five questions about the role of technology in their life care planning practice.
