OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical characteristics of patients with a diagnosis of pyoderma gangrenosum, associated comorbidities and histopathological findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective, observational, analytical study performed from January 2010 to December 2019 at the Dermatology Service of the Northeast National Medical Center no. 25 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. RESULTS: A total of 28 patients were collected, of which the majority were female, the mean age of presentation was 41 years and 3 were pediatric. In 22 out of 28 patients pyoderma gangrenosum was secondary and the most associated comorbidity was hematological disease, followed by inflammatory bowel disease. The predominant histopathological findings were neutrophilic inflammatory infiltrate. CONCLUSIONS: Pyoderma gangrenosum is a disease with low incidence, but high morbidity, our series of cases is one of the largest reported nationwide where in 22 out of 28 patients pyoderma gangrenosum was secondary to some underlying pathology, hence the relevance of performing the complete study of this dermatosis. ANTECEDENTES: El pioderma gangrenoso es una dermatosis neutrofílica autoinflamatoria de origen poligénico, caracterizada por úlceras dolorosas, necróticas y estériles que se detonan con el fenómeno de patergia hasta en el 50% de los pacientes. OBJETIVO: Describir las características clínicas de pacientes con diagnóstico de pioderma gangrenoso, las comorbilidades asociadas y los hallazgos histopatológicos. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Estudio retrospectivo, observacional, analítico, efectuado de enero de 2010 a diciembre de 2019 en el Servicio de Dermatología del Centro Médico Nacional del Noreste núm. 25 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. RESULTADOS: Se recabaron 28 pacientes, la mayoría del sexo femenino; la edad media de manifestación fue de 41 años y 3 eran niños. En 22 de 28 pacientes fue secundario y la comorbilidad mayormente asociada fue la enfermedad hematológica, seguida de la enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal. Los hallazgos histopatológicos predominantes fueron infiltrado inflamatorio neutrofílico.
