Temperature and Relative Humidity Control to Reduce Bioburden in a Closed Cell Processing and Production System without Disinfectants.

Chemical disinfectants pose risks to live cells. In a closed cell handling system, temperature and relative humidity (RH) were examined as a means to control microbes. Compared with biological safety cabinet conditions, lower RH and physiologic temperatures increased log reductions on polypropylene...

Sumario:Chemical disinfectants pose risks to live cells. In a closed cell handling system, temperature and relative humidity (RH) were examined as a means to control microbes. Compared with biological safety cabinet conditions, lower RH and physiologic temperatures increased log reductions on polypropylene and steel surfaces. Environmental control can reduce the need for disinfectants.
