ab: Pollution is the greatest threat that humans and animals all around the world are facing it. As the economy of each country around the globe is increasing drastically and the fossil fuels are used worldwide for the development of individual and the economy, it is consumed at a high rate every day. In order to reduce that, many researchers are spending their years in finding a suitable fuel with low pollutant emitting and affordable fuel. By means of replacing the conventional fuel into alternate fuel can reduce the problems related to global warming. The experimental investigation was carried out to estimate the output, emission characteristics and direct injection diesel engine characteristics of the canola oil. With the addition of methanol and potassium hydroxide (KOH) as a catalyst, the oil is prepared via the transesterification process. This paper explains and reviews the works related to the canola biodiesel under various operating conditions. Our focus is on evaluating the combustion, emission characteristics and performance of canola oil biodiesel based on the research done and published on large number of journal papers.
