El artículo tiene como objetivo principal analizar la doctrina de Poinsot sobre el signo formal del cual el concepto es el caso por excelencia. Se busca responder a la cuestión de si la teoría del signo formal es una interpretación correcta de la doctrina de Tomás de Aquino. El carácter representativo de este signo plantea interrogantes que se busca resolver.
