The only type of medical device using this technology, manufactured under license since 2008, has been registered by the FDA in all its different generations as Scrambler therapy®, but initially marketed in the US under the trade name of "Calmare®". All of the different generations of the Scrambler Therapy® device are built on the same license. As a result, all scientific publications and binding usage procedures referring to Scrambler therapy®, are automatically applied to the generation known as "Calmare®" as well. This dual naming of the same technology has in some cases created much confusion among independent researchers. In particular, almost all of the relevant scientific literature, and the official scientific information website, are available only with the search key "Scrambler therapy.' Those who did not have access to the necessary information on the correct use of the device and on the sources of bias in clinical trials, unintentionally published studies affected by methodological errors and procedures of use not compatible with those necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment and the validity of the study. This is also the case of the article "Comparative efficacies of Calmare® therapy and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in randomized peripheral neuropathy subjects with resting state fMRI monitoring".
