        In this article, a close reading of the eighth poem in Pedro Salinas' La voz a ti debida (1933) allows for a reformulation of the love theme under the figures of joy, affection, and the given. Here the connection of joy to the gift, following its interpretation by Jacques Derrida, seems to buttress the reading of some critics who have called into question the allegedly Neoplatonic leanings of the poet. Such a perspective, together with a comprehension of the affects in line with Spinoza's postulates, makes possible a new stance within a long debate about the book, namely, the lover's degree of existence and reality. Finally, the article explores the coherence of these interpretations with Salinas' critical and poetical stances in regard to tradition.
        A partir de una lectura detenida del poema octavo de La voz a ti debida (1933) de Pedro Salinas, el presente artículo reformula el tema amoroso bajo las figuras de la alegría, el don y el afecto. La vinculación de la alegría al don, interpretado en la clave propuesta por Jacques Derrida, parece abonar las lecturas de aquellos críticos que han puesto en duda el carácter supuestamente neoplatónico de las inclinaciones del poeta. Tal perspectiva, en conjunción con una conceptualización del afecto a partir de los postulados de Spinoza, hace posible una nueva elucidación de un largo debate en torno al poemario; a saber, el grado de existencia y realidad de la amada. Por último, se plantea la coherencia de estas interpretaciones con las posiciones críticas y poéticas que el propio Salinas esbozara respecto de la tradición.
