| Sumario: | Private Health Insurance is an optional health insurance product prepared to cover the health expenses of the policy holder resulting from illnesses and accidents. This study focuses on Complementary Health Insurances, which have recently entered the Private Health Insurance literature, and evaluates the contributions of Complementary Health Insurances to Private Health Insurance Total Premium Production of All Health Branches on the basis of number and premium production. Complementary Health Insurance is a type of insurance that provides coverage through Private Health Insurances and benefits from health services without paying additional fees for those health services that are not covered by the General Health Insurances or that require payment of a difference fee. This study outlines the conceptual frameworks of Complementary Health Insurance and other insurance systems, discusses their similarities and difference. It then analyzes the structure, scope, purpose, guarantees and application reasons of Complementary Health Insurance and evaluates the recent situation in the sector on the basis of cur rent data on the Complementary Health Insurance in Turkey. The central aim of the article is, thus, to assess the share of the Complementary Health Insurance Premium production in the private health insurance premium production in Turkey. For this purpose, the article analyzes Complementary Health Insurance Premium production and Private Health Insurance premium production data for the period between 2015-30.09.2020. The analysis of the data taken from the website of Turkey Insurance Association shows that Complementary Health Insurances contribute increasingly each year to Private Health Insurance premium production in Turkey.
