| Sumario: | Goal. The article is devoted to the study of psychological characteristics of subjects of political corruption offenses. Relevance. The author notes that among the numerous socio-economic and legal problems of the development of Ukrainian society, the problem of corruption stands out most acutely. It is determined that modern corruption permeates all social institutions of society, steadily expands its borders, becomes a serious threat to the stable development of the state, suppresses the subjective well-being of a person, distorts his legal consciousness. It is proved that the attitude of society to corruption and the consequences of corruption offenses was not always unambiguous: arguments in favor of the existence of “useful” corruption were given even in scientific circles. Results. The article analyzes the essence of the phenomenon of corruption as a social phenomenon that covers the whole set of corruption acts related to the illegal use by persons authorized to perform the functions of the state of the power granted to them, official powers, appropriate opportunities to satisfy personal interests or the interests of third parties, as well as other corruption offenses that create conditions for committing corruption acts, hiding them or indulging them. The author notes that corruption threatens the national security and social structure of Ukraine, systematically and comprehensively affects the formation and functioning of state and political organizations, undermines citizens confidence in the authorities and complicates Ukraine’s relations with foreign partners. Conclusions. It is proved that it is necessary to supplement the current anti-corruption legislation with the identification of possible forms of corrupt behavior, as well as responsibility for such actions. It is determined that the relevance of studying the psychological features of corruption is also due to the fact that this phenomenon is not only a social phenomenon, but also a psychological, moral and ethical one. It is proved that corruption threatens the national security and social structure of Ukraine, systematically and comprehensively affects the formation and functioning of state and political organizations, undermines citizens’ confidence in the authorities and complicates Ukraine’s relations with foreign partners.
