| Sumario: | The present study aimed to understand employment-related and service system challenges affecting people with cognitive disabilities from the perspectives of rehabilitation counselors with specialized training in cognitive disabilities. Participants included graduates of a Cognitive Disabilities Certificate program. Findings suggest employment among persons with cognitive disabilities involve challenges concerning employer attitudes and willingness to hire in addition to vocational rehabilitation efforts to support persons with cognitive disabilities. Service system challenges included concerns of bureaucratic issues and professional collaboration, service provider training, and limited resources to support the needs of persons with cognitive disabilities. Implications for rehabilitation practice and research are provided.
