| Sumario: | ISSUE Despite large investments, high expectations and extensive technology development in order to digitize home care for older people, the uptake is low. At the same time, there is a long history of increasing automation in the care sector and well-established theories and practical examples about how to improve implementation. The symposia include international comparisons from Asia and Europe; well-founded insights in the possibilities of digitization to empower the work force; practical attempts for social scientist to make early inputs to robotic research; and how to emancipate older participants when involving them in design. CONTENT B. STRUCTURE The convener begins by presenting the challenge presented in the statement above, followed by five presentations and a discussion. The presenters form a panel that, together with the audience, discusses the conditions for robotization in the care sector: what can be robotized / automated? What should be atomized? What should not be automated? CONCLUSION The purpose is to give clear messages to engineers and designers about the robotization in the care sector and to social scientists on how they can contribute to the development.
