      ab: Population aging is a universal issue that both more and less developed countries have faced. Many different approaches to close the gap between demands and supplies of elder care have been pursued, including changing immigrant policies, improving education for elder care workers, and developing and implementing technologies to assist with and even replace human caregivers. This presentation will give an overview of the recent initiatives by more developed countries with advanced technologies in Europe and East Asia in terms of their efforts to develop robots for elder care, then discuss how social values and cultural norms influence the development and deployment of robots for elder care. (Bedaf, Gelderblom & De Witte, 2015; EU, n.d.).
