| Sumario: | The Law numbered 5651, entitled "The Law on the Regulation of Broadcasts via Internet and Prevention of Crimes Committed through Such Broadcasts" has often been a controversial topic since the day it was passed. Especially the Articles added to the Law by Regulations, caused controversy about the surveillance performed by the state itself, in terms of subjects such as online confidentiality and privacy violation. This study addresses the evaluations regarding the Internet Law No. 5661 and consists of the field research conducted to reveal the citizens' perceptions about the Law. The study aims to reveal the surveillance awareness and thoughts of "the watched" about the rights like surveillance, online confidentiality, privacy, and freedom of sharing making the Law controversial. For this purpose, 620 individuals from the Province Ankara were interviewed face to face and the data obtained were evaluated. The study reveals that the participants give consent to the new changes brought within the framework of the legal regulations and that can be considered kind of surveillance. The study aims to make "the watched" that is always mentioned in the surveillance studies but ignored visible.
