The replacement of the ending -ts by -u begins in medieval Catalan and takes a long time to consolidate graphically. In this paper, we analyze, from a volume of Saint Vincent Ferrer Sermons, the evolutionary stage that this person presents at the beginning of the 15th century in the verb tenses of indicative, subjunctive and imperative. In addition, we analyze if there are significant chronological differences in the adoption of the innovative forms ending in -u between the three moods. Finally, we compare our results with Wheeler (2012) data to establish whether genre and style affect the distribution of the ending variants L’evolució del morfema verbal de cinquena persona de -TIS > ts a u [w] (CANTĀTIS > cantats > cantau) és un fenomen identificador de la llengua catalana, ja que es dona sistemàticament en totes les formes de cinquena persona de tots els verbs. La substitució de la forma -ts per -u s’inicia en català medieval i tarda bastant a consolidar-se gràficament. En aquest treball, analitzem, a partir d’un volum dels Sermons de sant Vicent Ferrer, quin és l’estadi evolutiu que presenta aquesta persona al començament del segle xv en els diversos temps verbals de l’indicatiu, del subjuntiu i de l’imperatiu. A més, analitzem si existeixen diferències significatives en l’adopció de les formes innovadores en -u entre els tres modes.
