Sumario:The article presents a discussion on Tristram Shandy's book "A Sentimental Journey." In "A Sentimental Journey," the determination of character is represented as most difficult and crucial in regard to the lower classes, especially servants. It has been argued that one of the central concerns of sentimental ideology is the determination of character, and that this determination is crucial to the benevolist's negotiation of class difference.
