Recent studies have shown that the Test is especially useful as a developmental test of maturity in visual motor perception and coordination. It is little influenced by emotional factors when used with first grade pupils and appears to have considerable value both as a screening test for school beginners and as a test for diagnosing learning problems in the first through fourth grades. It was found that the Bender test can predict first grade achievement quite well and correlates also rather well with some Readiness Tests.
