| Sumario: | The article focuses on writer William Trevor's literary works. William Trevor writes about political and historical matters from a cosmological perspective. Events remote from each other in time, or space, are linked in such a way to suggest that the apparent barriers of past and present, as well as of physical distance, are illusory, that connections exist among the various parts of his universe which make it a cosmos, an orderly series of mutual interrelationships. According to the basic concept which seems to dominate his work, past and present are actually the same moment. Apparently separate realms inevitably overlap. All the various elements of space and time are intrinsically interrelated, comprising an elaborate and powerful system of correspondences which shapes the world. Although now, in the twentieth century, there are some who see political and moral spheres as quite different, in Trevor's system of correspondences, questions of good and evil are unavoidably bound up with political and secular issues.
