| Sumario: | An Ottoman Cosmography: Translation of Cihannüma by Katib Çelebi: Edited by Gottfried Hagen and Robert Dankoff; translated by Ferenc Csirkés, John Curry and Gary Leiser. Finally, more than eighty years after Katib Çelebi first began his project, his text was once again reworked by the publisher Ibrahim Müteferrika (1674-1745), who added to it additional original text and maps for the final, printed edition of the I Cihannüma i in Constantinople / Istanbul in 1732. It also includes Katib Çelebi's original sketch maps from his autograph manuscript in addition to the later printed maps from the Müteferrika edition. |
