      ab: The article offers a perspective on regional challenges and opportunities in advances in genomics of psychiatric disorders. It provides an overview of meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for depression and for neuroticism. Opportunities for strengthening research in genomics of neuropsychiatric disorders in Latin America include the Latin American Genomics Consortium and inclusion in the curricula of regional master of sciences and doctorate programs in biomedical sciences.
