Additionally, although union democracy is associated with union effectiveness, restrictions on union democracy and decisions implemented by the union bureaucracy might be advantageous to the union as an organization in certain situations. The Bibliography is divided into these five sections: Reference & Primary Sources - Biographical & Individuals-Based Works - Historical Works - Dissertations - Conference Materials The scope of this I Bibliography i is the scholarly, English-language literature of U.S. Communism, anticommunism, and topics within the penumbra of U.S. Communism, or otherwise of close interest to scholars of U.S. Communism. Leftist unions are more democratic than non-leftist unions on all measures of union democracy including the absence of union corruption, the quantity of union factions, the presence of grassroots militancy, and union member participation in social movement unionism and community unionism.
