Thus, the deep rootedness of this popular mechanism to designate people (of a certain social extraction?) is confirmed. Most of the seventy-five nicknames found are quite funny and provide information on the origin, characterization or complementary elements of the offenders. Only some are totally enigmatic to contemporary eyes (which is quite understandable, they often had an arbitrary or random component). Insospitadament, en una col·lecció jurisprudencial de prestigi emanada dels cancellers de la Catalunya moderna, diversos criminals que buscaven la protecció de l'asil eclesiàstic van ser designats amb els seus malnoms respectius, a més de nom i cognom i, sovint, altres circumstàncies identificatives. Així, es constata l'arrelament profund d'aquest mecanisme popular per designar les persones (de certa extracció social?). La majoria dels 75 malnoms localitzats eren graciosos i corresponien a trets d'origen, caracterització o complementaris dels delinqüents respectius.
