ab: The article reports on a seminar named "Library & Information Show Special (LiS)." As Internet use rockets, exhibitors and seminars at LiS confirmed the changing role of libraries as information brokers and providers. Software companies and online systems providers reported brisk business in the aisles, while seminars on digital libraries drew packed audiences. Jonathan Glasspool, deputy managing director at reference publisher A & C Black, noted the growth in e-content from publishers. But he suggested take-up had been slower than some had hoped, particularly in trade books, where the lack of a dominant, accessible digital reading platform had put people off print but reference books still had a bright future.
