The Harvard Project transcripts, an oral history resource and a compilation of interviews with refugees from the Soviet Union during the early years of the Cold War, offer rich and new insights into how post-World War II Soviet immigrants made sense of their past. Many researchers have considered Harvard Project transcripts as memories of facts. When these transcripts are read closely and with attention to their context, it is clear that beyond the memories of Soviet immigrants about the past can be understood. There is no doubt that the adoption of this approach was an important step in the reconstruction of the history of Soviet society. In our study, it is revealed that the project has not been completely successful in representing the mentality of the average Soviet citizen as well as its contribution to Soviet historical studies. The project results not only serve to delineate the structure of the Soviet system under Stalin, but also provide a basic overview for assessing changes in Soviet life. In our study, results are revealed by scanning the online samples of Harvard transcripts. There is no study in the Turkish literature regarding the Harvard Interview Project.
