| Sumario: | In this paper we review the concept of implementation science and its use in health care, and in the area of electronic health record (EHR) implementation. We describe the theories, models, and frameworks, followed by implementation strategies and implementation outcomes. The use of implementation science in maternity and neonatal care is explored and the use of implementation science guiding EHR implementations in complex health care settings is discussed. Finally, we explore the Normalised Process Theory (NPT) in detail, as applied to EHR implementation and workflow development. |
