This paper argues that such an assumption is contradicted by all the positive evidence provided by literary sources and scholiography. The problem can be solved by correcting the transmitted τὴν Ὀδύσσειαν τῆς Ἰλιάδος into τῆς Ὀδυσσείας τὴν Ἰλιάδα.
