| Sumario: | When, during the 20th century, Latin America began to manifest its own identity to the world, architecture was able to echo many of its most characteristic features. This article visits recent Latin American religious architecture -a subject that has not yet been studied as a whole-taking as a reference two elements of analysis: the artistic and technological criterion -perhaps the most usual approach in architectural histories written by architects- and the linking of architecture with other human sciences, such as geography, sociology, theology or even politics, a point of view that has so far not been applied on this continent. Cuando durante el siglo XX, Latinoamérica comenzó a manifestar al mundo su propia identidad, la arquitectura pudo hacerse eco de muchos de sus rasgos más característicos. Este artículo visita la arquitectura religiosa latinoamericana reciente --un tema que todavía no ha sido estudiado en su conjunto-- tomando como referencia dos elementos de análisis: el criterio artístico y tecnológico --acaso el enfoque más habitual en las historias de la arquitectura escritas por arquitectos-- y la vinculación de la arquitectura con otras ciencias humanas, como la geografía, la sociología, la teología o incluso la política, un punto de vista que hasta ahora no se ha aplicado en este continente. |
