      ab: Infants born very low birth weight (less than 1500 g) or extremely low birth weight (less than 1000 g) have a thin and immature outer layer of skin, leading to high risk of skin injury and breakdown. A need was identified in the neonatal setting to establish and implement a skincare bundle for premature infants utilizing evidence-based products. The aim of this project was to educate nurses on premature skin and measure the rate of implementation of the skincare bundle. Data was collected over 60-days with retrospective chart reviews. Results showed that 81% of registered nurses completed the education. Nursing knowledge increased based on compliance with initiating and maintaining the skincare bundle over time. A change in the standard of practice for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was achieved.
