Sumario:This article examines the role of civility in political disobedience in modern liberal democracies. It discusses philosopher John Rawls' definition of civility and acknowledges that recent examples of political disobedience have been uncivil. The author argues that civility is important in mechanisms such as drawing attention, giving testimony, making demands, and making requests. However, the article concludes that civility does not play a significant role in triggering reason-giving in political disobedience and that further research is needed to fully understand its importance.
