Introduction: The aim of this study is to evaluate the debridement of oval, single-rooted teeth with Mtwo files at different reciprocal angles and to analyze different additional cleaning methods in the removal of obturation material using micro-computed tomography. Methods: Sixty mandibular premolars with a single oval and circular canal were instrumented and obturated with the ProTaper Universal System up to file F3. All teeth were subjected to a micro-CT scan. The samples were categorized into 4 groups based on the reciprocal angle and the additional cleaning method used for gutta-percha removal: Mtwo 150/30 group with NitiSonic insert, Mtwo 150/30 group with XP-endo finisher, Mtwo 90/30 group with NitiSonic insert and Mtwo 90/30 group with XP-endo finisher. After debridement and additional cleaning in the individual groups, micro-CT scans were performed. Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn tests, Welch's t-test and Mann-Whitney test were used. Results: The use of MTwo files in reciprocating motion at all angles significantly (p < 0.05) reduced the volume of gutta-percha in all thirds of the root canal during endodontic retreatment. Conclusion: The MTwo system in reciprocating motion allows a good and fast debridement capacity at low extrusion volume, with the 150º/30º angle showing greater fracture safety. The use of additional methods such as XP Endo Finisher R or ultrasonic agitation with NiTi inserts favored the effective cleaning of oval canals.
