The aim of this research, which focuses on editions published from the eighteenth century until today, is to present the key theoretical areas examined and provide concrete examples of techniques applied to theatre texts. The peculiarities of the transcription and the transmission of texts is bound to their performance, which, in turn, raises problems specific to the production of scholarly editions of these texts ; these speci- fic problems bring to light the weaknesses in the traditional methods. The article concludes by considering software tools and the on-line publishing of textual corpora in particular. This work underlines the considerable contributions it is making to the scholarly study of texts. It is time for a renewed reflection on transcription theories and on academic editorial practices. Cet article propose un aperçu rapide des techniques d'édition qui ont été adoptées pour rendre accessibles aux lecteurs les textes du théâtre médiéval en langue française. Le but de cette enquête, menée sur les éditions parues depuis le XVIII siècle jusqu'à aujourd'hui, est de présenter et d'illustrer concrètement les principales orientations théoriques et leur application aux textes dramatiques. Les particularités de la transcription et de la transmission de textes liés à la performance vont de pair avec une configuration textuelle qui pose des problèmes spécifiques à l'éditeur ; ces spécificités permettent justement de mettre en évidence les faiblesses des méthodes traditionnelles. L'article se termine avec des considérations sur l'outil informatique et sur la mise en ligne de corpus textuels en particulier, dont on souligne les apports considérables à l'édition et à l'étude des textes.
