Despite the expulsion, Blessed María Antonia de San José continued to teach the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises in Argentina for four decades. María Antonia was born in 1730 in Santiago del Estero and came from a wealthy family. Throughout her life, María Antonia dedicated herself to organizing the teaching of spiritual exercises in different areas of Argentina, carrying with her the wooden cross used by the Jesuits. María Antonia de San José arrived in Buenos Aires in 1779 and had difficulties adapting due to insults and accusations of witchcraft. However, Bishop Sebastián Malvar became her ally and granted her permission to conduct the Spiritual Exercises. María Antonia built the House of Spiritual Exercises in 1792, where thousands of people participated in spiritual retreats. Despite objections and requirements imposed by the authorities, María Antonia managed to get people from different social classes and ethnicities to participate in the retreats. Her work was successful due to the trust that the people placed in her. María Antonia passed away in 1799, leaving a spiritual legacy in Argentina. El artículo trata sobre la labor espiritual de los padres jesuitas en América española y la expulsión de los jesuitas por parte de Carlos III de España. A pesar de la expulsión, la beata María Antonia de San José continuó impartiendo los Ejercicios Espirituales Ignacianos en Argentina durante cuatro décadas. María Antonia nació en 1730 en Santiago del Estero y provenía de una familia acomodada. A lo largo de su vida, María Antonia se dedicó a organizar la impartición de los ejercicios espirituales en distintas áreas de Argentina, llevando consigo la cruz de madera utilizada por los jesuitas. María Antonia de San José llegó a Buenos Aires en 1779 y tuvo dificultades para adaptarse debido a los insultos y acusaciones de brujería. Sin embargo, el obispo Sebastián Malvar se convirtió en su aliado y le concedió permiso para realizar los Ejercicios Espirituales. María Antonia construyó la Casa de Ejercicios Espirituales en 1792, donde miles de personas participaron en retiros espirituales. A pesar de las objeciones y requisitos impuestos por las autoridades, María Antonia logró que personas de diferentes clases sociales y etnias participaran en los retiros. Su obra fue exitosa debido a la confianza que el pueblo depositaba en ella.
