This study focuses on the perceptions of interpreters about challenges in TI in Türkiye in which TI has been offered as a public service since 2011 and by private language service providers.With the objective of shedding light on the practices and problems experienced by telephone interpreters and their opinions on how to improve this practice, the study employed interview as the data collection method. The study recruited 12 telephone interpreters, whose opinions were then analyzed using thematic analysis. The participants highlighted that Turkish clients seem unaware of the interpreting process and aggravate TI problems. In addition, the participants proposed various measures for improving the quality of TI in Türkiye. Telefonla sözlü çeviri, sözlü çeviri çalışmalarında görsel veri eksikliği sebebiyle ortaya çıkan kalite endişeleri sebebiyle tartışmalı bir uygulama olmuştur. Bu çalışma telefonla sözlü çevirinin hem 2011 yılından beri kamu tarafından hem de özel dil hizmeti sağlayıcılar tarafından sunulduğu Türkiye’deki telefonla sözlü çeviri hizmeti sunan çevirmenlerin bu çeviri türündeki zorluklara dair düşüncelerine odaklanmıştır. Telefonla sözlü çeviri hizmeti sunan çevirmenlerin uygulamalarına ve karşılaştıkları sorunlara, buna ek olarak da bu çevirmenlerin kaliteyi arttırmak için sundukları önerilere ışık tutmayı amaçlayan çalışmada veri elde etme yöntemi olarak mülakat kullanılmıştır. Telefonla sözlü çeviri hizmeti sağlayan toplam on iki çevirmenle mülakat yapılmış ve çevirmenlerin görüşleri tematik analiz yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Katılımcılar, Türkçe konuşan müşterilerin sözlü çeviri sürecini anlamadığını ve telefonla sözlü çeviri sürecini daha da zorlaştırdığını vurgulamıştır.
