On entering the theater, each spectator is handed a pair of polarized, 3-D glasses. When instructed by Jacobs, the viewer places the glasses over his eyes and the double shadow-image on the screen appears to him as a single three-dimensional image. This is accomplished through the structural difference between the two lens in each pair of glasses resulting in a stereoptical image. The phenomenon of the stereoptical image works according to a second optic principle--the fusing of transposed stereo-pairs into a single image. The method involves viewing the stereo pair with the left eye directed to the photo on the right, and the right eye directed to the photo on the left. Suggestions on trying the method are presented in this article. pubtype: Periodical doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: Y dt: @attributes: year: 1975 holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
