The initiative defends the country's remilitarization despite constitutional restrictions and the opposition of a large part of the population. How has the government justified the remilitarization of the country? What are the implications of the increase in military spending? The hypothesis of this paper is that the persistence of a conflictual environment in Northeast Asia has allowed Japan's political elite to reduce internal resistance to the increase in the defense budget and to take the regional leadership in building a military alliance that disrupts Asian integration. Japón entronizó el concepto del Indopacífico como parte de su proyección regional. La iniciativa ampara la remilitarización del país, a pesar de las restricciones constitucionales y de buena parte de la población. ¿De qué manera se ha logrado justificar la remilitarización? ¿Cuáles serían los impactos del gasto militar duplicado?
