The article examines a new layer of Lithuanian folk songs, specifically the partisan songs created after World War II. In the 20th century, creators of folklore drew not only from old sources, such as traditional songs, church hymns, and the culture emanating from the nobility, as was the case throughout the 19th century. They discovered a new source of inspiration in romantic Lithuanian literature. Thus, the works of 20th-century self-taught poets contain paraphrases of both the patriotic poetry of 19th-century romantics and the more introspective neo-romantic poetry of the 20th century. Additionally, they incorporated elements of popular culture, especially the passionate and lyrical features of romances. Creators from the post-war generation saw themselves as representatives of a rich poetic tradition, able to select distinctive themes, refined verse forms, and the most elegant epithets and comparisons, while also adding something of their own. To describe this type of creativity, the term "folk romanticism" is proposed. During the post-World War II resistance movement, the spontaneous creative works of the post-war generation (poems and songs) were enriched by the interaction of love and military songs. Personal experiences lost their central importance, and post-war songs began to reflect not only individual happiness or sorrow but also the fate of the entire nation.
