In Mexico, in order to guarantee the exercise of their rights, as well as to establish the bases and provisions for their observance, the Law on the Rights of Older Adults was created, being the obligation of the government at the federal, state and municipal levels, as well as the deconcentrated and parastatal bodies, families and the community their compliance. Despite advances in legislation and public policies, age discrimination, lack of opportunities and mistreatment of the elderly continue, so it is essential to raise awareness of their rights and how to promote their protection. A lo largo de la historia se ha visualizado la necesidad de reconocer y proteger los Derechos Humanos de todas las personas, al considerarse a los adultos mayores en riesgo potencial de ser una población vulnerable se han establecido políticas internacionales en favor de la protección de los Derechos Humanos de las personas mayores. En México, con el fin de garantizar el ejercicio de sus derechos, así como establecer las bases y disposiciones para su observancia, se creó la Ley de los Derechos de las Personas Adultas Mayores, siendo obligación del gobierno a nivel federal, estatal y municipal, así como de los órganos desconcentrados y paraestatales, de las familias y la comunidad, su cumplimiento.
