| Sumario: | Internet usage has been increasing in recent years. There are many factors that have caused the use of the Internet to increase in recent years. We investigated the predictive roles of interpersonal relationship sensitivity and loneliness levels on problematic internet use. It was expected that participants' problematic internet use would increase as a function of the increases in their interpersonal sensitivity and loneliness levels. 200 participants that are comprised of high school seniors and university students aged between 18 and 38 years were enrolled in the study. The participants were given survey forms including a demographic information form which also questioned their social media usage habits besides the demographic questions, the problematic internet use scale (PIKÖ), interpersonal sensitivity scale and UCLA loneliness scale. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test our research hypothesis. In the analyses conducted, it was found that interpersonal decency predicts problematic internet use. There is also a low but positive correlation between the loneliness factor and problematic internet use. In the multiple regression analysis conducted it was found that interpersonal sensitivity levels of the participants predicted their problematic internet usage scores. Interpersonal sensitivity was predicted to predict problematic internet use. The interpersonal relationship sensitivity factor was also found to be related to the problematic internet use of the anxious dependency sub-dimension. There is a low relationship between loneliness factor and problematic internet use.
