This research uses screen-recording software as an instrument to observe the phenomena of translation quality self-evaluation as manifested by expert translators. The results of the observation prove that translation quality self-evaluation is an essential part of any translation process, and that it takes place not only in the revision stage but also in the very first stage of meaning generation.
