| Sumario: | This article explores the connection between literature and street art vandalism, using the example of a mural featuring a quote from a love letter written by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, a prominent twentieth-century Polish writer. In addition to highlighting this specific incident, we draw attention to other instances of hate vandalism directed at LGBTQ+ artwork in Poland. Through this, we reveal a broader trend of recent political mobilization against gay rights art. Our analysis underscores the complex nature of art vandalism as a form of communication that is situated within a particular political and social context, shaped by the values and beliefs of those responsible for the vandalism.
