In cases where it is not possible to directly transfer data verbally, writing, one of the most important inventions of humankind, comes into play. Like all societies that benefit from this important function of writing, Turkmens have been using writing since ancient times. To give brief information about the alphabets used by the Turkmens, apart from the period of “Orkhon inscriptions”, basically four periods can be mentioned in chronological order: “Arabic alphabet”, “Latin alphabet”, “Cyrillic alphabet”, “Latin alphabet of the period of independence”. It is clearly seen that the alphabet, which is a tool used in the transfer of language, can change according to conditions and time. It should be remembered that the alphabet is only a tool not an aim. Today, the "alphabet of technology" is the Latin alphabet. When examined from the computer software developer's perspective, there are also problems with the Latin alphabet used in Türkiye. In Particular, letters such as the uppercase “İ”, the letters “ı”, “ğ”, “ç”, “ş” may pose a problem. Therefore, an alphabet should be put forward as a result of the joint work of linguists and computer technology experts in all republics, and this alphabet should be used in all republics, including Türkiye. Dil, insanoğlunun bilgi ve tecrübesini aktarmakta kullandığı seslerle örülü iletişim aracıdır. Verileri doğrudan sesli olarak aktaramadığı durumlarda ise insanoğlunun en önemli buluşlarından biri olan yazı devreye girer. Yazının bu önemli işlevini gören tüm toplumlar gibi Türkmenler de çok eski devirlerden beri yazıyı kullanmaktadır. Türkmenlerin kullandıkları alfabeler hakkında kısaca bilgi vermek gerekirse “Orhun yazıtları” dönemi dışında temel olarak tarih sırasına göre dört dönemden bahsedilebilir: “Arap alfabesi”, “Latin alfabesi”, “Kiril alfabesi”, “Bağımsızlık dönemi Latin Alfabesi”. Görüldüğü üzere şartlara ve zamana göre dilin aktarımında kullanılan bir araç olan alfabe değişebilmektedir. Alfabenin sadece bir araç olduğu, amaç olmadığı unutulmamalıdır. Günümüzde “teknolojinin alfabesi” Latin alfabesidir. Bilgisayar yazılımcısı penceresinden incelendiğinde Türkiye’de kullanılan Latin alfabesinde de sorunlar vardır. Özellikle büyük “İ”, küçük “ı”, “ğ”, “ç”, “ş” gibi işaretler sorun teşkil edebilmektedir.
